What is seld on Mac?
Secure Element daemon · seed · quit hint: do not quit
seld is a macOS process (listed here as Secure Element daemon) — also matched as com.apple.seld. People usually find it in Activity Monitor when asking “what is this process?”
What does seld do?
seld is the Secure Element manager daemon. It manages the secure element and interfaces with the trusted service manager. macOS starts it as needed for that hardware; do not invoke it directly. You need it for secure-element operations to succeed; quitting can interrupt those until relaunch—do not quit.
Is it safe to quit seld?
Hint: do not quit. SystemWoe Free and Pro use keep-guards so you don’t blindly kill something important — Pro adds force-terminate only with confirmation.
