What is Updater on Mac?

Updater is a macOS process (listed here as Sparkle Updater). People usually find it in Activity Monitor when asking “what is this process?”
What does Updater do?
Updater.app is Sparkle 2’s progress/UI helper: it reports install status, can send a quit event to the host app, and relaunches the app after Autoupdate finishes. Sparkle copies it into a cache launcher directory (under org.sparkle-project.Sparkle) when an update is applying. You need it only during that update; quitting can stall the progress UI or relaunch.
