What is Problem Reporter on Mac?

Problem Reporter · seed · quit hint: usually safe

Problem Reporter is a macOS process. People usually find it in Activity Monitor when asking “what is this process?”

What does Problem Reporter do?

Problem Reporter is the macOS UI that presents crash and diagnostic reports after an app or process fails (the modern face of Crash Reporter). ReportCrash and related launchd jobs generate the report; this app displays it so you can inspect or submit feedback. It appears when a crash dialog is shown. You need it only to view that report; quitting dismisses the dialog and does not undo the crash—reports remain under DiagnosticReports in Console.

Is it safe to quit Problem Reporter?

Hint: usually safe. SystemWoe Free and Pro use keep-guards so you don’t blindly kill something important — Pro adds force-terminate only with confirmation.
