What is AppleDeviceQuer on Mac?
Apple device query service · seed · quit hint: usually safe
AppleDeviceQuer is a macOS process (listed here as Apple device query service). People usually find it in Activity Monitor when asking “what is this process?”
What does AppleDeviceQuer do?
AppleDeviceQueryService is the device-property query XPC from Apple's internal ZhuGe project (AppleDeviceQuerySupport.framework). It answers entitlement-checked queries for hardware properties and MobileGestalt "MG" keys — model, capability, and configuration values — on behalf of other Apple system services, alongside its sibling ZhuGeService. macOS starts it on demand when an entitled system process needs a device property. Quitting is usually harmless; it relaunches for the next query. The process name may truncate to AppleDeviceQuer.
Is it safe to quit AppleDeviceQuer?
Hint: usually safe. SystemWoe Free and Pro use keep-guards so you don’t blindly kill something important — Pro adds force-terminate only with confirmation.
